Working to prevent graffiti

Graffiti/Tagging/Graff, whatever you call it, it makes the streets of our City and our public spaces look unsightly, it is illegal and it increases peoples’ fear of crime.

At Birmingham City Council we are working to prevent graffiti and we want you to get involved.

As a general principle, responsibility for graffiti removal lies with the owner of the building/facility that has been vandalised. Birmingham City Council removes graffiti from its infrastructure, street signs, footways and furniture.

If you know of graffiti on our infrastructure please report it to us on 0121 303 1112. Help us to improve your area.

If your own property has been subject to graffiti, we can arrange for a graffiti removal crew to attempt to remove it, FREE OF CHARGE. Please call us on 0121 303 1112.

We can also deal with graffiti on commercial premises. Small jobs (less than 15 minutes) will usually be done free of charge, however there will be a charge for larger jobs. Businesses wishing to request graffiti removal from their properties should contact the Commercial Waste Section for a quote.

The Commercial Waste Section:
Tel: 0121 303 2894
Fax: 0121 303 3226
E-mail: bdu@birmingham.gov.uk

Typically, a request for graffiti removal will be
actioned within 2 to 3 working days, depending
on current demand for the service. The only exception
is racist and other offensive graffiti, which is treated as a priority. Every effort is made to remove this type of graffiti within 1 working day of receiving the request.
