Queen Confirm Themselves For Sonisphere?

Story Highlight

The band will make big announcement tonight

Queen now look like dead certs for the UK leg of Sonisphere Festival this summer.

According to a post on their official website, the legendary band will make a “big announcement” about some “incredible Queen news” at 8pm this evening – the exact same time Sonisphere are unveiling their line-up.

Earlier this month, American Idol singer Adam Lambert seemingly outed himself as the new Queen frontman, saying:  “After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that.

“There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honour and one I’m in no way going to shirk.”

Despite the tabloid press reporting that Sonisphere was in the bag for Brian May, Roger Taylor and Lambert, the festival has remained tight-lipped.

Other acts strongly rumoured for Sonisphere are Green Day, Blink-182, Faith No More, Skrillex, Rammstein and Korn.

Sonisphere ticket details will also be announced tonight at 8pm.
